Strathaird Primary School Upgrade Works Begin Construction

24 August 2022

The Andrews Labor Government is committed to growing educational opportunities for all Victorians and has invested more than $12.8 billion over the past eight years to build new schools and more than 1,850 school upgrades.

Member for Narre Warren South Gary Maas MP, attended Strathaird Primary School for their sod turn event with Principal Julie Kennedy and students on 23 August to officially mark the beginning of construction works which will upgrade the school’s facilities.

The Andrews Government allocated $10 million to Strathaird Primary School in the State Budget 2020/21 to upgrade and modernise the school, including building a new eco cubby and toilet block.

The school and the Victorian School Building Authority have been through the planning and design phases and it is now exciting to see construction begin.

The investment will see the building of a state-of-the-art eco cubby which is a multipurpose facility including learning spaces and a kitchen for students, parent program sessions and for whole of school events.

Strathaird Primary School is committed to environmental sustainability and has developed a School Sustainability Masterplan.

The eco cubby will lead to lower energy use and reduced waste through advanced technology innovations. The facility will enhance the learning of students and their understanding of innovations in sustainability.

The funding will also allow the school to build a new toilet block for their Year 5 and 6 students and to complete other important modernisation works around the school.

The last eight years of state investment in new schools and upgrades has created 17,400 jobs in construction and associated industries.

The upgrade works at Strathaird Primary School are due to be completed by the end of 2023.
