Budget Delivers for the South Gippsland Highway

State Member for Narre Warren South Gary Maas and State Member for Cranbourne Pauline Richards, recently visited the site of the planned upgrade to South Gippsland Highway as announced in the Victorian State Budget 2020/21.

The State Budget 2020/21 will invest $12.63 million to upgrade the South Gippsland Highway from Lynbrook Boulevard to the Dandenong Bypass. This section of road is a border between the Narre Warren South and Cranbourne electorates.

This funding boost will see the South Gippsland Highway widened at strategic points to increase capacity and optimise traffic flows, making peak hour more manageable for the thousands of commuters who use the road every day.

The Andrews Government is committed to improving our metropolitan road network, creating local jobs and making it easier for people to get to where they need to go.

This is another upgrade that will improve the South Gippsland Highway for motorists. Earlier this year, the Victorian Government delivered the Hallam Road upgrade which added an extra lane in each direction between Ormond Road and the South Gippsland Highway, upgraded the intersection, and installed new traffic lights, bus queue jump lanes, and 1.2km of shared walking and cycling paths.

The Victorian State Budget 2020/21 puts people first - investing in local roads increases safety and efficiency and creates jobs to get it done.
