Backing Narre Warren South's Fast Growing Community

4 October 2022

The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to support City of Casey’s fast-growing community with the infrastructure it needs.

Member for Narre Warren South Gary Maas, today welcomed the Minister for Local Government Melissa Horne to Hampton Park Community House. The Minister recently announced the latest round of projects from the Labor Government’s $50 million Growing Suburbs Fund.

The fund supports councils to build the community centres, town hubs, playgrounds, parks and reserves they need, with 47 successful projects across 15 local government areas to benefit from the investment.

The State Government is investing $938,884 towards the renewal of Hampton Park Community House.

Hampton Park Community House is one of the major community facilities in the area. The upgrades will include renovation of children and adult amenities, relocation of a community space, installation of a front entrance air lock, and minor landscaping to improve child supervision.

Over eight years the Government has invested $425 million in critical infrastructure projects in Melbourne's diverse and fast-growing outer suburbs, supporting almost 350 projects and creating more than 11,300 jobs.

Councils supported by the Government represent more than 31 per cent of Victoria’s population. For more than two decades, their population growth has exceeded Victoria’s state average and that trend is expected to continue with around 900,000 additional residents forecast by 2036.

Since 2015, City of Casey Council has received a total of $40,381,277 to deliver 31 projects through the Growing Suburbs Fund.

This latest round of funding will support communities across the state with new playgrounds, parks, community centres, pavilions, and kindergartens.
