Oakgrove Community Centre Hosts Biggest Morning Tea

9 June 2023

Member for Narre Warren South Gary Maas MP, was delighted to attend Oakgrove Community Centre on 7 June for their Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event as part of the Cancer Council’s fundraising drive to bring us closer to a cancer free future.

Mr Maas was joined by the Hon Daniel Andrews MP, Premier of Victoria, and Ms Belinda Wilson MP, Member for Narre Warren North, for the event which saw dozens of locals enjoying the Community Centre’s hospitality while supporting a great cause.

Many locals were enjoying a cuppa when the Premier arrived to touch base with the community and chat about the fight against cancer and the work of the community centre and Cancer Council.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is turning 30 this year with donations to the Cancer Council funding life-saving research, screening and treatment programs, prevention, and support services including their 13 11 20 Information and support line.

The State Government’s Victorian Cancer Plan 2020-2024 is focused on achieving health equity across the cancer system with long term goals to halve the proportion of Victorians diagnosed with preventable cancers, ensure Victorians have the best possible experience of the cancer treatment and care system, and increase one and five-year survival of Victorians.
