Grices Road Recreation Reserve Funded in State Budget 2023-24

31 May 2023

Families in Narre Warren South will enjoy an upgraded Grices Road Recreation Reserve pavilion, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Up to $1.2 million is in the 2023/24 State Budget – monies that are going towards the delivery of pavilion upgrades at Grices Road Recreation Reserve

This is part of an overall Budget package worth $201.2 million for community sport and active recreation infrastructure – referenced at Budget Paper 3, page 70.

We are investing up to $1.2 million towards an upgrade of the Grices Road pavilion, delivering facilities that the whole community can be proud of.

Berwick Churches Soccer Club was very excited when Gary Maas MP contacted them last week to announce the funding. It is a shame that a local opposition MP has spread misinformation about the upgrades we have invested in.

The Andrews Labor Government will continue to invest and deliver for local sports clubs, delivering better sports grounds and facilities.

Since 2014, the Victorian State Government has invested more than $1.6 billion to upgrade and improve local recreation reserves and sports grounds – making them better for local families.

Quotes attributable to Member for Narre Warren South Gary Maas MP:

“Unfortunately, the Opposition are too busy with internal problems to properly read Budget papers. The only numbers they are interested in are those in their own factions.”

The opposition has clearly adopted a US style of politics where they wantonly lie. It is my experience that MP’s are generally held to account by their constituents.”

“The Andrews Labor Government is backing local sport and local sports grounds, with up to $1.2 million to upgrade the pavilion at Grices Road Recreation Reserve.”

This funding is now secured. It will be delivered just as the netball, football and tennis facilities at Robert Booth Reserve, Hampton Park and the football and cricket facilities at Strathaird Reserve, Narre Warren South are being delivered.”
