10 November 2025 Community football and cricket in Narre Warren South have a new home ground advantage with the completion of their pavilion transformation.
Member for Narre Warren South Gary Maas, joined local celebrations on 6 November to officially open the upgrades at Strathaird Reserve, made possible by a $1.5 million investment from the Victorian Government.
Home to more than 670 players from the Narre South Lions Cricket, and Saints Football, Netball and Junior Football clubs, the previously ageing pavilion was struggling to cope with growing demand.
The upgrades have delivered a new social room, accessible amenities suitable for women and girls, servery and a covered spectator area.
The redeveloped pavilion is not only a boost for players and supporters but also provides new spaces for community groups to gather, meet and develop local programs.
The Victorian Budget 2025/26 is providing $20 million to support the development of high-quality, accessible community sports infrastructure across the state, including through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.
This brings the Victorian Government’s investment in community sport and active recreation infrastructure to more than $2.4 billion since 2014.
From oval redevelopments to new pavilions, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
Gary Maas MP acknowledged the City of Casey for its more than $85,000 financial contribution and commitment to delivering the project.
