Wednesday 19 March 2025 Member for Narre Warren South Gary Maas recently joined Casey City Council and club members at K.M. Reedy Reserve to officially open the new training facility, made possible by $100,000 from the Community Cricket Program.
Heinz Southern District (HSD) Cricket Club and aspiring local cricketers can look forward to putting more runs on the board, thanks to the completion of a new cricket training facility at the popular ground, backed by the Allan Labor Government.
The new three-wicket cricket training facility at the south west corner of the main oval replaces the previous training nets, which were run down and falling short when it came to hosting practice in a safe environment.
It’s a large space with a synthetic surface that’s ideal for cricket training and is also publicly accessible, providing the perfect place for locals to enjoy a hit of cricket, further reinforcing the reserve as a sport and recreation hub.
The Labor government has invested more than $2.3 billion in community sport and active recreation infrastructure over the past decade.
The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is also investing over $23 million to continue delivery of community sports infrastructure and programs to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility.
Investments like these are all about supporting the development of strong, active and healthy communities through high quality, accessible, well-designed local infrastructure.
Gary Maas MP acknowledged the Casey City Council for its $75,000 financial contribution and delivery of the project.
